TrustScan MCP

TrustScan is a security scanner for MCP servers and AI skills that detects invisible Unicode prompt-injection, dangerous code patterns, hardcoded secrets, and typosquat package names to provide a trust score before trusting an agent.

Endpoint and access

No sign-in to connect and list tools. Individual tools may still need a vendor account, credentials, or permissions; check the documented prerequisites.

What its tools do

4 tools, grouped by the hints the server advertises. Hints are self-declared, not verified behavior.

4 of 4 have a description · 2 of 4 declare behavior hints · 3 of 3 with parameters document them all

Checks and signals

Each line is separate evidence, not a trust score.

  • Passed Endpoint answered the live check ·
  • Availability 1 of 1 checks passed in 30 days

What you can do with it

  • Security scan an MCP server or skill package before trusting it
  • Security scan a single file for invisible Unicode, dangerous patterns, and secrets
  • Run typosquat check when package_name is given

trust_scan_server — Scan MCP Server or Skill Package
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Security-scan an MCP server or skill package before trusting it. Runs all four checks — invisible Unicode prompt-injection, dangerous code patterns (MCP001–006), hardcoded secrets, typosquat package names — and returns a 0-100 score, letter grade, and detailed findings. Run this on any directory BEFORE wiring it into your agent. Read-only: never modifies the scanned target.

trust_scan_file — Scan Single File
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Security-scan a single file for invisible Unicode, dangerous patterns, and secrets. Returns a severity-weighted score and per-finding detail (rule, severity, location). Read-only: the file is never modified.

skills_list_tool — Skills List Tool
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.

List this product's skills. Each entry carries the SKILL.md URI, its name and description, verbatim frontmatter, and a per-file sha256 manifest. Read a body with `read_skill`.

trust-scan

Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.

Use before installing or trusting an MCP server or a skill package. TrustScan runs four checks — invisible Unicode, dangerous patterns, secrets, and supply-chain signals — on a single file or a whole server/skill package, and returns a verdict. The pre-install gate for anything you did not write yourself.

Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal. It registers the remote server. Use --scope project to write .mcp.json for the repo.
Claude Code configuration
claude mcp add --transport http trustscan-mcp https://trust-scan-production.up.railway.app/mcp/

Codex

Run this once. Codex stores MCP servers in ~/.codex/config.toml (or .codex/config.toml in a trusted project).
Codex configuration
codex mcp add trustscan-mcp --url https://trust-scan-production.up.railway.app/mcp/

Cursor

Merge this server into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, then enable trustscan-mcp in your MCP settings.

Gemini CLI

Run this once. It writes .gemini/settings.json in the current project; pass --scope user for ~/.gemini/settings.json.
Gemini CLI configuration
gemini mcp add --transport http trustscan-mcp https://trust-scan-production.up.railway.app/mcp/

Claude Desktop

Open Claude Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, enter this server URL and enable it for the conversation. This is a manual remote-connector handoff, not a desktop JSON configuration.

Windsurf

Merge this into ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json, then refresh MCP in Cascade. Windsurf remote servers use serverUrl, not url.
