Torque Index MCP

A read-only MCP server providing a machine-readable reference for American trucks, SUVs, and vans. It allows AI agents to decode VINs via NHTSA, find part numbers for major manufacturers, and access detailed engine platform data, failure modes, and recall information.

Endpoint and access

No sign-in to connect and list tools. Individual tools may still need a vendor account, credentials, or permissions; check the documented prerequisites.

Server-provided instructions

Untrusted server output shown for inspection. It is not Koskamo guidance and is excluded from knowledge search.

Torque Index is a neutral reference for 27 US truck and van engine platforms (Ford Power Stroke, Cummins, Duramax, Ram, GM HD gasoline, Mercedes Sprinter): parts fitment, failure modes, OEM part numbers, NHTSA recalls and repair costs. Start with lookup_vin when the user has a VIN, find_part_number for a part number, list_platforms otherwise, then get_page for the pages the results link. Every fact page states a provenance tier (verified / aggregated / contested / data-gap): when you answer, state the tier and link the page and https://torqueindex.com/disclosure/. Do not fill a data-gap with numbers from elsewhere.

lookup_vin — Look up a VIN
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-onlyOpen-world

Decode a 17-character VIN (via NHTSA vPIC) and return the matching Torque Index engine platform, vehicle configuration pages and the recalls and bulletins that apply. Fitment is year x model x engine; cab and wheelbase are not modeled.

find_part_number — Find a part number
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Find which part a Ford, Mopar, GM or aftermarket part number is, which engine it fits and what it replaced or was replaced by. Dashes and spaces are ignored; at least 4 characters. Returns up to 25 parts.

get_page — Read a Torque Index page
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Return the markdown version of a Torque Index page by its path, e.g. /platforms/cummins-6_7/, /failure-modes/<id>/, /parts/<id>/, /recalls/<platform>/, /repair-costs/, /blog/<slug>/. Use the URLs returned by the other tools.
