S+ Money CIS Refund Calculator MCP

An MCP server that allows AI agents to estimate UK CIS construction subcontractor tax refunds. It calculates taxable profit, income tax, and National Insurance based on gross income, expenses, and CIS deductions for tax years 2025-26 through 2027-28. The server provides read-only tools to estimate refunds or amounts owed without accessing personal HMRC records or filing returns.

Server-provided instructions

UK CIS refund estimates for self-employed construction subcontractors (sole traders paid under the Construction Industry Scheme), published by S+ Money. estimate_cis_refund works out the estimated tax refund or amount owed for 2025-26, 2026-27 or 2027-28 (2027-28 uses the Budget 2026 rules: 35p a mile above 10,000 miles, £3,000 trading allowance): income tax plus Class 4 National Insurance on profit after allowable expenses, set against the CIS already deducted, with the working, the expenses people often miss and GOV.UK source links. get_cis_tax_rates lists the rates and thresholds used. Only gross income is required; ask for CIS deducted and expenses if the user has them, and say which defaults were assumed. Results are estimates, not tax advice. Not for limited companies.

estimate_cis_refund — Estimate CIS tax refund
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Estimate a UK CIS subcontractor's tax refund (or amount to pay) for tax year 2025-26, 2026-27 or 2027-28 (Budget 2026 rules for 2027-28). Takes the year's gross CIS income, the CIS deducted (the statement total, or the 20%/30% rate), allowable expenses (materials, tools, van mileage at HMRC simplified rates, parking and travel, phone, protective clothing, training and site cards, insurance, accountant) and optional other PAYE/pension income. Calculates taxable profit (or the trading allowance if better: £1,000, or £3,000 from 2027-28), income tax (England/Wales/NI or Scottish bands, Personal Allowance taper), Class 4 NIC and the Class 2 position, then compares the bill with the CIS already deducted. Returns the working line by line, payments-on-account warning, commonly missed expenses, rates used with GOV.UK sources and a result card. For self-employed sole traders under CIS, not limited companies. Read-only: stores and sends nothing. An estimate, not tax advice.
