protogrid MCP

An official MCP server provided by protogrid that allows agents to search a registry of 57,835 MCP servers by intent, retrieve connection descriptors, and verify server quality and trust scores without holding user credentials.

Endpoint and access

No sign-in to connect and list tools. Individual tools may still need a vendor account, credentials, or permissions; check the documented prerequisites.

What its tools do

5 tools, grouped by the hints the server advertises. Hints are self-declared, not verified behavior.

Can change data (1)

5 of 5 have a description · 5 of 5 declare behavior hints · 3 of 5 with parameters document them all

Checks and signals

Each line is separate evidence, not a trust score.

  • Passed Endpoint answered the live check ·
  • Passed Official MCP Registry namespace is tied to protogrid.dev ·
  • Passed Endpoint is on the registry namespace domain ·
  • Availability 1 of 1 checks passed in 30 days

What you can do with it

  • Search for MCP servers by intent
  • Retrieve connection configurations for agents
  • Verify server quality and trust scores
  • Check if a server needs authentication

Server-provided instructions

Untrusted server output shown for inspection. It is not Koskamo guidance and is excluded from knowledge search.

protogrid: registry of MCP servers from the official registry, probed without credentials. Flow: search(q) → get_server(name) or list_tools(name) → get_connection(name, target) → connect with your client. check_server(url) probes any MCP server URL once: quality and Claude and OpenAI directory readiness. Classes: R0 no auth; R1 a static secret (${NAME} placeholders); R2 OAuth, one human consent; L0 local package. Results carry next_actions with arguments. Scores are observed signals, not audits.

search — Search MCP servers by intent
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Hybrid (keyword + semantic) search over servers and their tools. Filter by connection class to keep only what you can reach autonomously (R0, R1).

check_server — Check an MCP server URL
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Open-world

Probe a remote MCP server URL once, credential-free and without calling its tools, and get its quality checks and its readiness for the Claude and OpenAI directories. Pass `url` to start a check (waits up to 25 s for the result), or `id` to read one. Quota: a few checks per hour anonymously, more with an API key.

90-day uptime

A lightweight connection check about every six hours, sampled on hosts with many listings. It shows the server answered, not that its tools work.

Too few checks for a percentage yet (1 of 1 answered).

Connect from your client

Each snippet registers the same endpoint; pick the client you use.

This server is operated by the named third party. Listing and endpoint checks are not an endorsement or a security audit. Review the operator's permissions, terms, and data handling before connecting. How listings are checked and corrected.

Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal. It registers the remote server. Use --scope project to write .mcp.json for the repo.
Claude Code configuration
claude mcp add --transport http protogrid-mcp https://api.protogrid.dev/mcp

Codex

Run this once. Codex stores MCP servers in ~/.codex/config.toml (or .codex/config.toml in a trusted project).
Codex configuration
codex mcp add protogrid-mcp --url https://api.protogrid.dev/mcp

Cursor

Merge this server into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, then enable protogrid-mcp in your MCP settings.
Cursor configuration
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "protogrid-mcp": {
      "url": "https://api.protogrid.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cline

Merge this into cline_mcp_settings.json (Cline → MCP Servers → Configure).
Cline configuration
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "protogrid-mcp": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://api.protogrid.dev/mcp",
      "disabled": false
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Merge this server into .vscode/mcp.json. Use MCP: List Servers to start protogrid-mcp and inspect its tools.
VS Code configuration
{
  "servers": {
    "protogrid-mcp": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.protogrid.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Gemini CLI

Run this once. It writes .gemini/settings.json in the current project; pass --scope user for ~/.gemini/settings.json.
Gemini CLI configuration
gemini mcp add --transport http protogrid-mcp https://api.protogrid.dev/mcp

Claude Desktop

Open Claude Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, enter this server URL and enable it for the conversation. This is a manual remote-connector handoff, not a desktop JSON configuration.
Claude Desktop configuration
https://api.protogrid.dev/mcp

Windsurf

Merge this into ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json, then refresh MCP in Cascade. Windsurf remote servers use serverUrl, not url.
Windsurf configuration

  "mcpServers": {
    "protogrid-mcp": {
      "serverUrl": "https://api.protogrid.dev/mcp"

Let your agent find its tools

Find servers like protogrid MCP from your agent. Add Koskamo once to search the index for endpoints, access requirements, and client setup. Public discovery needs no key.
