NPILayer MCP

An official MCP server provided by NPILayer that enables AI agents like ChatGPT and Claude to query U.S. healthcare provider data. It supports looking up providers by NPI, searching by name or specialty, and finding providers near a specific location using ZIP codes or coordinates, leveraging CMS NPPES data.

Endpoint and access

No sign-in to connect and list tools. Individual tools may still need a vendor account, credentials, or permissions; check the documented prerequisites.

What its tools do

3 tools, grouped by the hints the server advertises. Hints are self-declared, not verified behavior.

3 of 3 have a description · 3 of 3 declare behavior hints · 1 of 3 with parameters document them all

Checks and signals

Each line is separate evidence, not a trust score.

  • Passed Endpoint answered the live check ·

Server-provided instructions

Untrusted server output shown for inspection. It is not Koskamo guidance and is excluded from knowledge search.

NPILayer exposes U.S. healthcare provider data from the public CMS NPPES dataset: lookup_npi, search_providers, and providers_near. An NPI record identifies a provider or organization; it does not indicate licensure, credentialing, network participation, insurance acceptance, or that a provider is currently practicing at a listed location. For deeper integration (authentication, rate limits, full endpoint reference), see https://npilayer.com/docs/.

Look up a single U.S. healthcare provider or organization by its 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI), from CMS NPPES data. An NPI record identifies a provider; it does not indicate licensure, credentialing, network participation, or current practice status.

providers_near — Find providers near a location
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Find U.S. healthcare providers within a radius of a ZIP code or coordinate, from CMS NPPES data. Provide either "zip", or both "lat" and "lng". Distance is measured from each provider's primary practice location to the ZIP centroid (not an exact street address), since NPILayer's geography is ZIP-based.
