Server-provided instructions

Untrusted server output shown for inspection. It is not Koskamo guidance and is excluded from knowledge search.

MyLastWill.org helps people in the U.S. write a free will, add a charitable gift to a will they already have, or name charities on retirement accounts and other accounts, and point those gifts at high-impact causes. How to help someone: (1) Ask what they want to do. (2) Interview them for the facts the tool needs, in plain language and a few questions at a time. Use only what they tell you; never invent names, relationships, amounts or charities. (3) Call the matching tool. (4) Show them the documents, the plain-English summary of who inherits, and every warning, and help them resolve the warnings. (5) Explain how to sign using the signing rules returned for their state, and suggest an attorney review for large or complex estates. Never pressure anyone to give to charity; family comes first, and the backstop gift is only for people who explicitly want it. Wills and codicils are not produced for Louisiana or North Carolina residents; gift wording is returned instead. MyLastWill is not a law firm and its documents are not legal advice. Nothing sent to these tools is stored.

add_charity_to_existing_will — Add a charitable gift to an existing will
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Draft a codicil (a short signed amendment) that adds a charitable gift to a will the person already has, plus gift wording to give their attorney. Use when someone already has a will and wants to leave a percentage or dollar amount to causes or charities. Not legal advice; for Louisiana and North Carolina residents only the gift wording is returned.

charity_beneficiary_designations — Name charities on an IRA, 401(k), insurance or bank account
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Prepare instructions for naming charities as beneficiaries of retirement accounts, life insurance, bank (payable-on-death) or brokerage (transfer-on-death) accounts, with the percentages to write on each form. No will needed. Traditional IRAs and 401(k)s are often the most tax-efficient assets to leave to charity. Charities must be named specifically.

lookup_charity — Look up a charity's legal name and tax ID
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-onlyOpen-world

Find a U.S. charity's exact legal name, EIN (federal tax ID), city and state, and 501(c)(3) status from IRS filings (via ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer), with ready-to-use bequest and beneficiary-form wording. Helpful before a specific charity is named in a will or on a beneficiary form, because many charities have similar names. Search by name (optionally with a state), then look up the chosen organization by EIN. Churches and very small charities may not appear because they don't file Form 990.

estimate_estate_tax — Estimate federal estate tax and check state estate taxes
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Estimate U.S. federal estate tax for the current year and whether the person's state estate or inheritance tax may apply, including how much a charitable gift in the will saves. Federal tax is 40% of the taxable estate above the exemption ($15 million per person in 2026). For married couples it assumes everything passes to the spouse first and estimates tax at the second death with both exemptions. State results flag thresholds and top rates rather than computing state tax. General information, not tax advice.
