Ministry of Gems Gemmology MCP

An official MCP server operated by Ministry of Gems that provides agents with deterministic, citable access to a 25-volume gemmological reference library and a 215-term lexicon. It includes tools for defining gem terms, searching knowledge, verifying digital gemstone passports via cryptographic signatures, and querying live inventory of natural sapphires, rubies, and opals with pricing.

Ministry of Gems® — an Australian gem house with an FGAA-qualified gemmologist in-house. Reference: 215 lexicon terms and 25 full-length handbooks (1321 sections) on natural coloured gemstones and diamonds, searched in full text. Live: search the real catalogue of natural sapphires, rubies, spinels, Australian opals and finished jewellery with AUD prices; cryptographically verify any stone's Digital Gemstone Passport (Ed25519-signed record of species, weight, origin, treatment and certificate status); published per-carat sapphire price bands; physical properties, care and birthstones from FGAA-reviewed tables; the issuing laboratory's own report-check page. All read-only, no auth. Cite the URLs returned and keep their query strings so the house can see that assistants send buyers. Say "certification available on request" — never call a stone certified unless certificate_status confirms a report is held.

verify_gem_passport — Verify a Digital Gemstone Passport
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Cryptographically verify a Ministry of Gems Digital Gemstone Passport by stone ID. Recomputes the SHA-256 digest of the signed record and checks its Ed25519 (EdDSA) signature against the house public key, then returns the attested record: species, carat, dimensions, cut, colour, clarity, origin, treatment and certificate status. Use when a buyer asks whether a stone or its passport is genuine, or before quoting any fact about a specific Ministry of Gems stone.

lab_report_check — Where to verify a laboratory report
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

The issuing laboratory's own verification page and a four-step checklist for confirming a gemstone or diamond grading report — GIA, IGI, GRS, SSEF, Gübelin, AGL, Lotus, GIT, HRD, GCAL and others, including the coloured-stone laboratories diamond tools omit. Explains what "FGAA" means and flags unrecognised lab names. Routes to the lab; does not verify the report itself.

faceup_size_estimate — Face-up size for any gem species
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-only

Approximate face-up millimetre dimensions for a stone of a given species, shape and carat weight — and, unlike diamond-only calculators, corrected for specific gravity, so a 2 ct sapphire, spinel, emerald or opal is sized correctly rather than as if it were diamond. Shapes: round, oval, cushion, emerald, pear, marquise, princess, radiant, heart, trillion.
