agentsearch-mcp

A remote MCP connector that exposes AgentSearch API endpoints as discoverable, typed MCP tools for LLM agents. It provides web search, instant answers, and URL-to-text fetching capabilities, acting as a thin adapter layer for MCP clients like Claude and ChatGPT without adding business logic.

Endpoint and access

No sign-in to connect and list tools. Individual tools may still need a vendor account, credentials, or permissions; check the documented prerequisites.

What its tools do

3 tools, grouped by the hints the server advertises. Hints are self-declared, not verified behavior.

3 of 3 have a description · 3 of 3 declare behavior hints · 3 of 3 with parameters document them all

Checks and signals

Each line is separate evidence, not a trust score.

  • Passed Endpoint answered the live check ·
  • Availability 1 of 1 checks passed in 30 days

What you can do with it

  • Perform web SERP searches via provider-abstracted backends
  • Retrieve keyless DuckDuckGo instant answers for definitions and facts
  • Fetch and clean text or markdown from URLs for LLM context windows

web_search — Web search (SERP)
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-onlyOpen-world

Search the web via a provider-abstracted backend (Brave or Serper, configured operator-side). Returns normalized results, each with position, title, url, snippet, source, and domain, plus a meta envelope (cache state, provider, took_ms). Returns a provider_required error if no search provider key is configured upstream. Use this for a full web SERP; use instant_answer for quick facts/definitions.

instant_answer — Instant answer (keyless)
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-onlyOpen-world

DuckDuckGo Instant Answer API — definitions, entities, and quick facts. Returns a normalized answer with heading, type (abstract/answer/disambiguation), source, sourceUrl, optional image/definition, and relatedTopics, plus a meta envelope. Not a full web SERP; use web_search for that. Works with no API key.

fetch_url — Fetch a URL as clean text/markdown (RAG-ready)
Advertised by the server during the last successful anonymous check.
Advertised read-onlyOpen-world

Fetches any public http(s) URL, strips boilerplate (scripts, nav, footer, ads), and returns clean text or markdown ready for an LLM context window. SSRF-guarded — refuses private/loopback/internal hosts. Returns url, title, format, length, content (and finalUrl when redirected, plus up to 50 extracted links when links=true), with a meta envelope. Works with no API key.

Each snippet registers the same endpoint; pick the client you use.

This server is operated by the named third party. Listing and endpoint checks are not an endorsement or a security audit. Review the operator's permissions, terms, and data handling before connecting. How listings are checked and corrected.

Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal. It registers the remote server. Use --scope project to write .mcp.json for the repo.
Claude Code configuration
claude mcp add --transport http agentsearch-mcp-vercel https://agentsearch-mcp.vercel.app/mcp

Codex

Run this once. Codex stores MCP servers in ~/.codex/config.toml (or .codex/config.toml in a trusted project).
Codex configuration
codex mcp add agentsearch-mcp-vercel --url https://agentsearch-mcp.vercel.app/mcp

Cursor

Merge this server into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, then enable agentsearch-mcp-vercel in your MCP settings.

    "agentsearch-mcp-vercel": {
      "url": "https://agentsearch-mcp.vercel.app/mcp"

Gemini CLI

Run this once. It writes .gemini/settings.json in the current project; pass --scope user for ~/.gemini/settings.json.
Gemini CLI configuration
gemini mcp add --transport http agentsearch-mcp-vercel https://agentsearch-mcp.vercel.app/mcp

Claude Desktop

Open Claude Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, enter this server URL and enable it for the conversation. This is a manual remote-connector handoff, not a desktop JSON configuration.

Windsurf

Merge this into ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json, then refresh MCP in Cascade. Windsurf remote servers use serverUrl, not url.
